Hobo Lights Loading Dock On Fire
I was freaking out last night about having only three blankets but four homeless people I have been passing to hand out, as tonight is the first night of this winter season where the temperature was dropping in the low 20°F. I haven't been able to find any moving blankets at the walmarts I visit, the the super cheap $4 throws are utterly worthless at thst temperature. Last moment it occured to me to go to Home Depot and I bought a overly expensive one for $24 dollars. I was paying $12 for them two years ago. I hate Biden and Harris for that.
When I got off work tonight at 11, the four homeless people were not at their normal spot, and instead a 50°F summer sleeping bag that was open was there, and a yoga mat- and nobody around. It confused me as the area was rife with homeless people and nobody took it.
I jumped in my van, and on the way to tonight's camping spot I saw a fire. I pulled up, and it was a homeless guy who lit a fire on the back of a loading dock. I've seen homeless women stay here in the summer, but they aren't around any more. Now it's this guy. I got him a blanket and one of the gigantic two pound bags of beef sticks.
Since it is finally cold enough to open my neon green 20°F sleeping bag I did. It is very roomy inside. I can use a pillow with it just fine. I will have to camo it with the blue moving blankets I keep for myself over it when I park. I usually throw random junk on top of them to make it look like a messy van full of random junk. Order only comes to it once I pull in at night. Once I get a cargo van without windows I won't have to do that anymore.
Oh.... I say sometimes I have neighbors. The two cars next to me, a station wagon and a SUV, people live in them. I could technically pull off a SUV, but the station wagon guy.... who plays 80s music on repeat, he must sleep in the fetal position in the back seat. I couldn't do that. I'd sooner park somewhere and sleep in the woods nearby than try that.
I wouldn't normally do this, but cops seem to ignore this spot, as it's not really residential and out of the way. I'm sure they pass at night while we sleep but they just don't care. We are gone during the daylight hours.
If I see those four outside again, I'm going to be a bit annoyed as I no longer have four blankets for them, but am back down to three. No fun.
