Just bought a bunch more blankets for homeless people

Apparently there was a Black Friday sale at Walmart (today is Saturday) and I bought a bunch of these $10 throws that come with carrying handles. I bought four for some ladies I see. Threw them in the back of my campervan to give out in the upcomming days when the temperature dips back below freezing at night.

I gave away my last few slewping bags:

I gave that red one away (I'm keeping the yellow for myself to use this winter- nobody gets sleeping bags if I freeze to death first) to a black guy I walked past. He said Happy Veterans Day to me and I walked past saying nothing, went to my van, and got the red 10°F bag, and this super thick foam pillow someone at my hotel left behind, a couple pounds of beef sticks and a block of smoked cheese, in a big garbage bag with a few extra garbage bags in it (to keep everything dry when it rains- what you call in the Army a Wet Weather Bag), walked back over to him and dropped it down infront of him, not saying anything, and walked away. When I drove by later he was looking at the sleeping bag, the guy in red:

Then today I gave up what remained of my Army sleeping bag- most of it was stolen when my God Mother was dying- cancer spread to her brain and she suddenly decided going driving and leaving the trunk wide open in parking lots was a good idea- and it got pilfered. The slepeing bag set goes for nearly $500 now. I gave it to this guy who seems fairly jew to being homeless, about 72 hours in terms of his facial hair growth- he was shivering like crazy when I walked past him and I was in a teeshirt and shorts (seems to be the last person in Pittsburgh still dressing like this). People don't grasp the importance of adjusting to the weather by wearing the least amount as possible so your internal thermometer adjusts as the season progresses. I gave him the inner piece, and told him it was only one piece of a larger system, not rated for the dead of winter, and if he stayed in Pittsburgh reliant on just that, he would die and he needs to start moving south right now if he wants to live.

I also gave away two thinner black throws and a block of cheese to a old white lady- but those can't do much in colder weather. I'm going to give her also one of these black throws with the carrying handle. She is the oldest woman I see around. Hopefully she gets put in a women's shelter this winter.

Such a Good Samaritan. It’s very sad to see them on the streets. It’s the kids out there that break my heart most. 1out of 5 homeless in Canada are youth. I see them every day lined up for food at the church in the mornings and at the food trucks in the evenings. I donate a lot
@Jenny1234 I honestly haven't seen a homeless kid- the kid in the grey sweatshirt is in his twenties. I think he just got released either from jail or a psychiatric institute, you can see his plastic bag for his belongings next to him.

I'm guessing we have a place for teens here, because I really should of seen them by now. We even have a neighborhood similar to the part of San Francisco with Golden Gate Park, full of hippies (just more tattooed). They refuse to work and actively beg for drugs. They are in their twenties. I just don't see kids around and I am uncertain why. There must be a shelter for them, only explanation I have.

@Motzu there are shelters and also they couch surf. But they are also the ones Who are most likely to be hidden and trafficked
@Jenny1234 Perhaps. But they somehow eluded me.

@Motzu Maybe those people should claim to be illegal aliens. They would then get a free hotel room, food, and money.

@Diotrephes The very first person I helped this year was a old black man.

You didn't even have the decency to say one word to him. IMO, he should have refused your gift.
@mysteryespresso Trump supporters.
