I was looking online at places to potentially move to with a friend yesterday

We saw an apartment for sale for $450,000, and it seems like it would be perfect for me. It's small enough to not need much, the body corp would be less than $5000 per year and cover the maintenance, and it's in the area I want and close to the train station. The problem is that unless I can get a 20% deposit that isn't happening. But I can dream. Plus it's been on the market for nearly two years so it's for sale at less than the value of the property but I doubt it'll sell if it's been this long. But I can't get the idea of owning it out of my head. It's going to ge a painful few days until this works out of my system

As a matter of interest, have you established why it has been on the market so long??😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Not really. It's all a pipedream anyway, but I think it's because Aucklanders have this weird aversion to apartments. They're really not that common here yet, and haven't been super available until relatively recently. Everyone just wants the quarter-acre section and 4-bed house they lived in growing up, regardless of how achievable that actually is any more. But I think I like the idea of it more than anything anyway

@KiwiDan I get it.. Not to put another issue on your plate. Trumps latest effort may make a mortgage harder to come by and kick interest rates up, due to international conditions. Not to mention the cost of petrol rising. Even if you thought you had a chance, you may be running into risky conditions..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I've got a year of saving ahead of me anyway, so I can hopefully ride out the worst of it this year. Plus not having a car (or a driver's licence) means I don't have that massive expense. The rising cost of goods won't help though.

@KiwiDan Sounds like a plan. Lets hope nothing messes with it..😷
