One time I was exploring the deep country roads and came across a place called Salem.

There was a big sign that said, "Welcome to Salem".

I just remember seeing some mom & pop shops, small bars, and very primitive infrastructure like traffic lights that still ran on literal light bulbs. There weren't a whole lot of people around, either. Actually I don't remember seeing anyone except a few cars on the road.

Eventually I found my way back home. This was about 9 years ago. Since then, I've asked around and nobody knows of a place—even remotely around here—called Salem. It's also not on the map anywhere.
