You have that right. I’m in an airport hotel… literally 5 min from departures. I’m checked in… I have no checked bags. I’m advised to arrive at the airport four hours before my flight 😳. That’s a pretty crazy waste of time.@Bearsfan67
@Noworries72 short range business flights don’t make sense anymore. I used to fly from Chicago to St Louis all the time. Now it’s faster and less stressful to just drive.
International flights make no sense either…. I was delayed in Barcelona this spring for 3 days… 3 days! Do you know what hotels cost in Barcelona in May? The standard compensation didn’t touch it. There seems to be such a demand for travel after COVID, that everyone is rolling over for this nonsense. You book a fare… but it’s just a one way contract. @Bearsfan67
I have a prediction we will see a string of airplane crashes over the next few years. The pandemic caused a lot of airlines to go into massive debt and they must be cutting corners, as well as intentional travel just dropping compared to prepandemic, as well as Russia taking a whole bunch of commercial aircraft in response to getting sanctioned. The whole industry is pretty hollowed out
It’s hard to work for a company that yingvyangs employees both stewardess and now pilots and one year later wants them back as if nothing happened and throw unexpected weather into the mix
I know this. And they are turning record profits… after taking huge $ in compensation. Flight crews had a terrible life during COVID. I was in an essential industry too, and basically self isolated for two years. Plus I think flights are being deliberately oversold… and this upcharge for everything is just an increase in fares: sorry venting, but the pandemic has been a boon for airlines. @Mindful
Lots of businesses are holding customers to ransom. That or they're extorting money for profit lost during covid. I have a horrible feeling governments are likely to cut them loose and just say market forces will determine the winners and losers. Fine for industries but p*$$ poor for customers
