I'll be traveling to Europe in August. I'll be part of an organized group tour. I have a friend that lives in the country I'll be visiting, but is from outside the city I'll be in. We would like to meet up. Would I get in trouble for allowing him to share my room if he's not part of the group?

Serious answers only, and especially if you're sure of the answer as opposed to guessing.

Ask the group organizers this. No European country cares who you stay with or who stays with you.

Yes I have been to Europe.
@DeWayfarer when you have been to Europe, have you ever asked that question to the group organizer, or you have travelled by yourself?

@uniqueness1 actually I travel by myself and at 14! Visited distant relatives that only spoke German.

No I didn't speak German at that time.

Yet not a soul cared that a 14 year old was traveling on an airplane, to get to Germany, nor take two different trains nor take a taxi, only to wind up with an old relative that didn't believe I was her sisters son.

Had to convince her 12 year old granddaughter whose English was just about as good as my German.
@DeWayfarer ok, then it doesn't really answer my post because my post is about travelling with a company tour that does ''group tours''...

@uniqueness1 why can't you ask your group?

Believe me I had to ask a lot of things of my relatives back then. Yet your group at least speaks English!
@DeWayfarer in case they say ''no''! haha. There is that expression that goes something like this: (english is not my first language, so the expression might be way off) : it is better to ask for forgiveness than to ask permission.

@uniqueness1 the saying really doesn't apply.

Your with a tour group. You're not going to hide your friend from them either way. They will know.
@DeWayfarer my friend would NOT participate in anything with the group, not even breakfast which is included in price of the room.
