I am curious... When you hear "South Africa" what goes through your mind?

What do you picture it to be like? 馃

I always picture the South Africa Militia guys from Call of Duty.

Which is probably really stupid because that's not at all related to the real country of South Africa...

@BlueMetalChic: 馃槀 Very true lol

@BlueMetalChic: That reminds me. A while back I was playing "Far Cry 2". I was sneaking through the bush and approaching the "enemy". One of them heard me and shouted,"Ngubani igama lacko !?". This is Zulu for,"what is your name ?".
I was rather shocked by that.

Then shortly thereafter I was approaching another enemy camp. One of the guards saw me and shouted to his colleagues, "Ek sien hom, kom hier !" That is Afrikaans for, "I see him, come here !".

It was all a bit freaky for me and soon I stopped playing it. I felt weird killing people speaking languages from my own country ,especially due to our recent history.

@Wraithorn: That is funny and shocking at the same time!

@iMystery: indeed. It was like tragicomedy.

@Wraithorn: 馃槀... I always laugh when I hear Afrikaans in international movies... like in the latest Purge movie where they interview this one guy from SA who flies in to USA to part take in the purge...

Then another movie of Jackie Chan which was filmed at Sun City where this one guy pulls him and says "Kom hier you wind gat!" 馃ぃ

@iMystery: Lol. Windgat,a classic insult. I presume Jackie kicked his butt then.
iMysteryM
@Wraithorn: Lol of course he did.. He is Jackie Chan and it is his movie so he must win 馃檮
