What is a city or town you have visited in the past that made you feel uneasy enough to never want to return?

For me that town is Grand Forks, ND. I got stranded there once for a few hours and while I am normally excited to explore new places that I’ve never been to regardless of the town… I just couldn’t tap into my adventurous spirit in Grand Forks. I can’t exactly pinpoint the exact thing that bothered me so much about Grand Forks; the town seemed fine enough. But for me personally, Grand Forks just had this really miserable and depressing vibe that unsettled me and made me feel weighed down emotionally. I couldn’t wait to get out and never look back.

@lissah Yeah. I’ve never been to Juarez but know many people who have. It sounds like a pretty fucked-up place to be. It certainly sounds like the kind of place I would be deeply unsettled to find myself in.

Definitely been to places like that. Yerington Nevada is one. People there seemed off. The dog would get nervous driving through there too.

I got off the train at the wrong stop late at night in a town close to Birmingham airport (UK) and it was horrid. I was physically scared, I nearly cried. Never again would I want to go there.

It felt dangerous, the pubs were closing so people were coming out drunk. It felt sketchy. I don’t think it would habe been much better during the day. @deadmoon

@Strongtea Parts of Birmingham can feel unsafe, but I think any area late at night when the drunks are going home feels off. Actually, if you look at the crime stats, often it's just noise and craziness, but I'd still not choose to go there.

There are so many towns and cities where a lone woman can feel unsafe.
It is so easy to go around the 'wrong corner' from the safe road to the unsafe.
Parts of London, Paris, Marseille, Birmingham ........

Middlesbrough UK , they are animals. An area called Brambles farm we made a delivery to a pub and got jumped on by a gang and they kicked the shit out of us because of our accents. Totally uncalled for .

Rathdrum Idaho. Even into my teen years, I could be sound asleep in the car and know we were there. I could feel it.
Now though? It’s just a town that makes me want to leave before I even get there.
There have been stories as to why I might feel this way, but mostly just takes kids tell each other. Nothing solid.
