Have you traveled to Malaysia? Any thoughts?

I have heard many mixed reactions to coming here. I totally understand both sides. It is either you love it or you hate it. And sometimes when things start to get bad (navigation issues, getting lost, and people seeming unhelpful), things can feel really bad throughout. But when things start well (good food, helpful people, willingness to spend on Grab, good hotels with friendly staff), things tend to go pretty well.

Another reason, places in Malaysia are scattered. You can’t just go to the city one day, to the beach the next, and to the mountains the day after. This is probably why tourists feel there is nothing here. So my suggestion is, if you want to visit, pick which part you would like to see (Mountains? Cultural/Historic? Village? City? Forest? Beach? Nightlife (not as vibrant as Thailand though)?). There is a place or state for that.

Oh, and most places here are not pedestrian friendly, so it is best to take Grab. Less hassle, which makes your trip less frustrating, not to mention the scorching weather.

I had a friend who was Malaysian. Very nice guy. We lost touch when I got married and he went to work for a cruise line
@Ambroseguy80 Ah, that’s unfortunate. Maybe you can try to connect with him if you know his full name.

@BetweenLines Then you know very well how to deal with all those people. Lol
@Nick1 Ikr? 🤭
I did a a few solo travels around Malaysia. From Kuala Lumpur to Genting Highlands to Batu Pahat and crossed to Singapore from there.

I liked the people and the food. Overall, I liked the country. Although, I’d choose traveling in Indonesia over Malaysia.

@CookieCrumbs Indonesian people are friendly.
@Nick1
I experienced living there for a brief period. So yes, I agree with you.
I still have friends there who I regularly visit whenever I go to that side of the world.

Well, I moved to Malaysia at the age of around 8, from New Delhi. It seems far less uptight than North, South, and East Indian societies although majority of them profess the religion of Islam.

China definitely is even better and suits my personality a lot better like jigsaw puzzle than here in India.

What’s grab?
AngryPappujeet90 · 36-40, M
Well, in Singapore and Malaysia, including in other regions of the ASEAN ( Association of South East Asian Nations), such as for Vietnam 🇻🇳, and Indonesia 🇮🇩, @Ferise1 Grab is a multi-purposed, e-hailing App .... Just like Uber, Ola ( for India), and Maxim.
