As long as you don't run into a huntsman spider...

@TexChik

And that's a small one. I think they can
get as large as twice that leg span. 😩

@Thinkerbell Then im stepping into a pitching machine!

@TexChik

A pitching machine?

How would that get rid of the spider? 🤔

@TexChik

Well, maybe if the machine is pitching styrofoam balls, and you position your head carefully...

@Thinkerbell huntsman spiders are not dangerous and are actually beneficial.

@zonavar68

"Huntsman spider bites are generally not dangerous to humans and usually cause only mild symptoms like pain, redness, and swelling, similar to a bee sting."

Ok, so it won't kill me, but I could do without the bee sting, or being scared to death. 😳

@Thinkerbell They are far more scared of you, than you are of them. Same with daddy long legs aka 'cellar spiders' which are *not* dangerous to humans. When I lived in a bushland location I used to get big hand-sized huntsmans in the house I was renting then.

@zonavar68

Did they crawl on you while you were asleep and wake you up?
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell Not had that experience. Where I live now it's mostly DDL's but also get regular huntsmans, trapdoors, redbacks, st andrews cross, etc. not yet encountered any funnel webs (which are dangerous) but they'd be about.

@whowasthatmaskedman

Yes, I explained to TexChik that the one in the picture was small...

@zonavar68

No black widow spiders?
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell they're the Redbacks I think.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Thinkerbell No. But the "Redback " is a distant relative of the Black Widow. It almost never kills. But the pain makes you wish it had...😷
