Does Trump's tariff aks isolationism stuff impact your desire and/or ability to travel in 2025 and beyond?

Travel for me is totally out already due to affordability and I haven't had a passport for nearly 20 years.

But if I was in a position to go I'd like to go see friends in the USA. However the new regime re tariffs and the instructions to Homeland Security to treat all foreigners as alien terrorist threats to the sovereignty of Trump are huge turn-off's so I'd be very hesitant to try going there unless I had to go there for work (my job as a freight train driver is kinda not really up there in elite/executive business circles lol).

I've never been to anywhere in the Europe or Asia. My ex and my 7 y/o daughter are going on a OS holiday in June (to Asia) which I could never afford to do.

Of course. The politics of not caring about each other doesn't go along with inviting times for travel!
I went during "one world, one heart!" Times. It was a world for everyone. That's so over,! I understand why people did close it up! I understand why that's part of the wars and the assault on nature. Not a great time to try to tell you.

In the US we need to have a, Real ID, if we want to fly on an airplane or to have access to federal buildings. It's so dumb, like your driver's license isn't good enough suddenly. They been trying to do it but then COVID hit and threw off the whole schedule.

And this isn't like a, just go and fill out paperwork, no, they want a birth certificate, like 3 forms of ID it's crazy. I don't plan on flying anytime soon so not something I need.

@zonavar68 the real id is legit a driver's license, with a gold star on it. THAT'S IT.

@twiigss omfg. Our government (fed election next month) is already trying to push everyone to get a fully digital ID. I haven't had a passport for over 20 years so I have no idea about security measures linked with them. I never go to any federal gov department facility and we have no nuclear power plants (currently).

@zonavar68 I never had a passport before, just a driver's license. Like I don't understand this big push for all this id crap. It's fine the way it is leave it alone 🙄

It’s better than the laws enacted against American citizens that Bush passed after 9/11 where it treated those with US citizenship like they were terrorists.

It’s better to vet people from coming into our land. No more terrorist threats. No more Laken Riley murders. No more foreigners owning our land while our citizens struggle with homelessness and house crises prices.

Everything he’s doing is for the American People that voted him in. That are sick of giving everything away to foreign entities. They work a job their whole life and struggle and stress gain sicknesses and ailments. All to watch a foreigner get free housing. Brand new sports cars. Free food. And then tell us our social security won’t be available for all the Americans that put money into it because they’ve been giving our taxes away to the entire world through USAID and other means.

On Behalf of the majority vote who voted him in. Stay in your country. We don’t want you here. You’re not a necessity by any means. All you do is talk shit about us. You’re a toxic cancer, and a plague. Good riddance.

I assume you are mostly addressing non-Americans, but here is my thing -

Eventually I would like to visit France.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@Punches Yes people outside the USA mainly but will it affect US citizens traveling outside the USA for work or play also?
Punches · 46-50, F
@zonavar68 I do not know, I have never traveled abroad.

With these stories about foreigners having a hard time traveling to the USA, I wounder what the specifics are or how frequent.

I've been all over the world...don't care if I ever go anywhere now. Been there, done that!

The desire is still there, but not to faraway places. Going house-sitting in California...will be nice.

I won't be travelling to the US anytime soon. At 4 years unless something or someone is gone....

The triffs made no difference. We decided pre covid that we didnt want to visit Trumps America. So glad we saw it in the Obama era...😷

Personally I think they should have toll booths at each border crossing

@Thrust It's the level of vetting that's been ramped up as evidenced by actual accounts of people presenting legitimately to enter the USA (either mainland or occupied territory elsewhere) and being either detained or denied entry based on spurious grounds that normally are of no concern. Also increased vetting of personal electronic devices.

@zonavar68

occupied territory

So go liberate them
