What's the furthest you have travelled for a sporting event

I was going to say football but it could just as easily apply to any sporting event.

In the 90s my brother and I travelled up to Middlesbrough for a football match only to find the match had been cancelled before we got there meaning we had to turn around and come home again. We went back up the following week and the match was played.

Murrayfield for a Scotland England rugby match. Took the train up.

@KatyO83 that sounds like fun trip. There is a direct train from here. Its a shame I don't know anyone who likes rugby.

@KatyO83 Edinburgh is lovely. You can get around on the hop on and off tourist busses. Crossing London is a pain though. I had to do it recently when coming back from Plymouth. Picadilly to Kings Cross. It was easy enough as it turned out but I didn't know where I was going. The train was late too which meant I missed my connection and had to book another ticket.

@Jacko1971 get the high speed luckily from here. Into St Pancras only walk to King's Cross or Euston. Rather than pain from Victoria or Charing Cross
