When things just keep going wrong...what do you do?
Work Xmas lunch was due to start at 6pm. I finish work at 2pm. I walked to the bus stop and missed the first bus. But the 2nd followed a few mins later. Home at half 2. Dog and I napped from 2.45 to 3.50pm. I put his food out in time for 4 pm, and got redressed. We left the flat at 4 15pm. I walked him until 4.40pm. Didn't take my coat off just let him in and shut the door behind me and headed out.
My bus should have arrived at 5pm. It was delayed. Orginally saying 5 mins so arriving 5.15pm. that then disappeared off the list and was showing a 17 mins arrival. So I started walking. I got to my other bus stop at 5.15pm where it was pulling up. Traffic was bad I didn't get to my train station until 5.40pm stuck between stops I couldn't get off.
When I got on my train there was a man opposite reading a pawn magazine. No attempt to hide what it was. Then an announcement was made. Finally I get to the station 5.50pm. I fight to get off the train as my train is sat on the platform. As soon as I get to the doors they shut in my face off the train goes. I text a work colleague explaining I'm running late and on the platform waiting for the next train, but it says Delays! This is due to a passenger falling ill on an earlier train.
I wait and wait for the train to display an arrival time only for it to get to 6.30pm and it claim the train will arrive in 4 mins.
I'm so cold and pissed off that I just text to say I'm going home. I'm annoyed because after the train it's still a 6 mins walk. At my current snail place I probably wouldn't get there until 7pm. I didn't want to keep them waiting and I just wanted to get home.
Id been standing due to how busy it was since I got on that first bus. Pretty much an hour... I wouldn't complain ordinarily but in my 8th month of pregnancy I was not impressed.
I finally start my route back home which was surprisingly quick. Order a pizza and specify no sweetcorn and to replace it with ham.
@Wizardry unfortunately there were road delays due to water works and someone falling ill isn't the norm. The way the overground works is that you don't have many options like the underground. I took the best route and when going back on myself it was faster since that side wasn't affected. I would have encountered more walking going a route in the opposite direction since I would have needed to get to another station that was 10 mins away. London is a funny old place. In this instance I was damned. Even with an hour for what should have been a 30min journey.
