Should overweight passengers have to pay more for plane tickets?

Some airlines does this, is this discrimination or do you support it as the more you weigh, the more room you take up. The more fuel the plane will burn etc.
is this just common sense or is it way too unpopular.

I think the plane would have to be completely full of severely overweight people before it would affect fuel economy.

I do think if they are over a certain weight, they are likely to take up two seats so in THAT regard, yeah charging for two seats is kind of necessary.

I do not know, I mean even for normal sized humans, plane seats are awfully cramped.

Ain't like the movies where it looks like they are in a living room or theater.

@Punches yes, i have heard that certain airlines will ask you to voluntarily get on the scales if they think you meet that criteria and insist that you buy another ticket.
