I was thumbing up the idea until you mentioned the Atlantic coast because of the hurricanes.
Well, is there anywhere else nice that you can go that's closer by?
If it was 100 degrees everyday here, I'd drive an hour to sit at this big pretty lake we have with a shopping area attached to it.
Sometimes it's worth getting away for a while to reset your mind

@iamnikki true that. I just didn't want to pay the state to sit at a lake and just haven't been to the coast in about 4-5 years now. Wanted to see if the "magic" was still there you know? Smelling the salt in the air, waves crashing, treasures hidden in the sand all that.

But, otherwise a little fishing at the lake would be nice too. :)

@RedGrizzly oh definitely. I've only been to a beach once, so I'd love to go back. If it weren't for the videos I have, I wouldn't remember it

@iamnikki lol right? If I remember correctly, I went to Galveston and sat alone on a bench at the lighthouse. It was right after I stopped dating someone that lived there. Just wanted to reflect and really take everything in since I figured I may not be heading back there for a good while.
Oh, and Corpus Christi. Last time I was there, I volunteered to clean up the beach when I arrived. Lol I'm like anal about human mess in natural environments because I just don't take it for granted.

@RedGrizzly I've heard corpus Christi is a nice Beach. I also love lighthouses. I don't know what it is about them
RedGrizzly · 26-30, F
@iamnikki it can be. Depends if the tides will wash anything up either manmade mess or Man'O'War jellies. Also, sometimes there's oil pockets in the water from the oil rigs so you could end up getting oil on you. But when the beach is clean, isn't any red tide moments, it is really nice to visit and enjoy. :) Even do some salt water fishing if you're into that. I liked Galveston better though because I've never had a moment where it was ever dirty, you have the Sea wall you can sit on, and the whole strip reminds me of California. Lol but yeah, definitely check out their lighthouse if you can. It sits on its own little island.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@RedGrizzly now I hear Galveston is the one that's "dirty" since technically its a gulf, and not the ocean.
RedGrizzly · 26-30, F
@iamnikki not always, which is good! :) Corpus and Galveston coast are off the gulf of Mexico. If I wanted to see the Atlantic I'd have to take a boat out of the Gulf or go to the East Coast off of Florida to directly look off into the Atlantic. But regardless, things can wash up on the beaches of Florida from other countries that neglect their environments or natural disasters like you see along the Pacific coast where things from places that are heavily hit by hurricanes/monsoons will travel several hundred miles and pop up in the Americas. But, mostly, it's our own trash. Just depends on what's going on with people and companies and how they're treating our beaches.
