I need a "daycation". Or at least a few hours of just getting away from all of it.

I was thinking about leaving super early in the morning to make a 3 hour drive to the coast to see the sunrise over the Atlantic, then drive home since I'm borrowing the family car (we only have one). Just need a breath and to enjoy life, instead of worrying about money and if I'm ever going to find any direction.

But there's a hurricane going to hit us soon, so there's that. 💀

I was thumbing up the idea until you mentioned the Atlantic coast because of the hurricanes.
Well, is there anywhere else nice that you can go that's closer by?
If it was 100 degrees everyday here, I'd drive an hour to sit at this big pretty lake we have with a shopping area attached to it.

Sometimes it's worth getting away for a while to reset your mind

@iamnikki it can be. Depends if the tides will wash anything up either manmade mess or Man'O'War jellies. Also, sometimes there's oil pockets in the water from the oil rigs so you could end up getting oil on you. But when the beach is clean, isn't any red tide moments, it is really nice to visit and enjoy. :) Even do some salt water fishing if you're into that. I liked Galveston better though because I've never had a moment where it was ever dirty, you have the Sea wall you can sit on, and the whole strip reminds me of California. Lol but yeah, definitely check out their lighthouse if you can. It sits on its own little island.

@RedGrizzly now I hear Galveston is the one that's "dirty" since technically its a gulf, and not the ocean.

@iamnikki not always, which is good! :) Corpus and Galveston coast are off the gulf of Mexico. If I wanted to see the Atlantic I'd have to take a boat out of the Gulf or go to the East Coast off of Florida to directly look off into the Atlantic. But regardless, things can wash up on the beaches of Florida from other countries that neglect their environments or natural disasters like you see along the Pacific coast where things from places that are heavily hit by hurricanes/monsoons will travel several hundred miles and pop up in the Americas. But, mostly, it's our own trash. Just depends on what's going on with people and companies and how they're treating our beaches.

Do it. And eat a biscuit sandwich at Wendy's on the way back.

@Onasander I want to. I'd definitely be doing some risky business since Beryl is almost here.

Long drive will be wore out when you get home
RedGrizzly · 26-30, F
@Lilnonames lol for sure, not as bad as the 8 hour drives round trip I used to do for my ex on almost a weekly basis when I was in that relationship. But a 6 hour Daycation would be so worth it.
