I remember Renault 4 which appears in the first photo

@BridgeOvertroubledWaters When I lived in France I had many Renault 4s over the years. The GTL was top of the range. I could fit in my family inc two small children, plus my parents, with luggage on the roofrack. Very versatile, solid little car
@WalterF yes I remember. They also had a closed back version for commercial use

@WalterF A good friend moved to France . He had a succession of 4s . Sadly the only example I saw on a recent visit was this one .

@devonman They were cheap, reliable and economical, for many decades. Pity they were phased out. I once bought an old 2cv (Citroen Deux Chevaux) off a friend for next to nothing. It was in working order, I drove it from Poitiers to Chartres, no problem. But it was very draughty in winter and wouldn't start easily, so I sold it for 50 francs (about £5).

Utilitarian and economical to run . A French icon of the post war years.
