Have you ever stayed in an Airbnb and had a terrible experience? Weird rules, things not working, hidden charges, unsanitary conditions and more? What was your experience?

@metaldog It happens. One place in Miami was so moldy, I couldn’t even stay there. It cost a fortune for last minute hotels (there were several of us) and we never were fully reimbursed. No more Airbnb for me. I selectively use VRBO
@metaldog Careful. Ask plenty of questions. Check the cleaning and other fees. They advertise a per night $$ and then bulk up cleaning and service fees. I also recommend that you don't agree to too large of deposit. If things don't work out, complain like hell.
@metaldog I often go out of town on business with associates. Having a house is great for a number of reasons. The costs are much better than hotels when more than 4 people are staying, you can make your own meals (breakfast especially), collaborate with your team more effectively, and entertain guests when needed. But I've been disappointed in the past so I'm super selective now. I'm very careful to read reviews. I'll pay more for quality, but they damned sure better treat me nice or face the wrath of a bad review.
