Do you prefer a road trip or air travel?

Just curious on what everyone thinks.

I like flying, or did before they reduced the seat size to fit a skinny, short 8 yr old. I despise airports. They are huge silos crammed with anxiety.

Road trip - any day of the week.

Road Trip if it is two days in the car. Air if it is longer.
@SweetMae Same .. maybe more days on road if taking in some points of interest along the way vs just blazing down the highway.

Unless I just have to go a long way in a hurry I would just as soon drive.

Road trip

I find air travel stressful. Especially with trying to make connection flights with delays.

I haven’t flown since 1999 but I’ll need to the end of this month. I can’t say I’m 100% comfortable with flying, but I did love the view so I called window seat again. lol Mostly just nervous because air travel is a shitstorm right now. I would wait that out if I could. I love a good road trip, though, particularly when neither the schedule nor the company are overly tight. 😂👍

I haven't been in a plane since 1984. I didn't fit then, and I know that I've grown a little since then, and the plane's have become a lot smaller.

I'm going to slide on into the front seat of my pickup, and head off to any place I want to go.

I deeply hate flying

and I thoroughly enjoy roadtripping

its that driving or rail is not always practical otherwise I would never enter another flying sewage pipe ever again
swirlie · 31-35, F
To go overseas, I prefer to take the train.

But to fly domestically, it's always a break-even situation if you drive rather than fly IF the total driving distance is 6 hours or less or the total fight time is 1 hour or less.

In either example above, driving time from the time you leave the house until you arrive at final destination, alway equals the same amount of clock-time involved from the time you leave the house when attempting to catch a 1 hour flight, especially if you need a car at the other end. [/c]

@swirlie forgive me but how do trains go overseas?
swirlie · 31-35, F
They don't. That's the problem. I prefer to take the train overseas, but my only options are air travel or an ocean yacht, but the train would be better.[/c]
with so many delays and cancellations right now I'll take a road trip
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 41-45, F
Road. I don’t trust the left phalanges on airplanes.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
Seldom see it as an either/or choice. For soaking up the culture, the countryside, a road trip or rail trip, public transit by far. If that culture, countryside I intend to visit is a significant distance, then fly to get there so there is more time for the road trip.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
I prefer to fly even though I hate flying. I know it’s safer than driving. Trains seem to take forever and I’m always worried there will be an accident
swirlie · 31-35, F
Why do you hate flying?[/c]
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@swirlie I’m scared. Been flying all my life and loved it as a kid but since I became a parent and also since I watched Alive, I’m scared
swirlie · 31-35, F
Of what? Are you fearful of the unknown, or what?[/c]
road. i loathe flying. im not a terribly worried or uneasy flier, i just deeply resent being treated like a criminal and cargo/herd animal to get the privilege of paying lots of money to get somewhere,.
Tom610 · 61-69, M
I have to say that I don't fit on most public transportation. Therefore I usually travel in my pickup truck, and enjoy getting to see things, as I drive through them.

It depends on how far my destination is, and where this is business or pleasure, and how often I make the trip.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Depends. Would hate to go on a road trip from the US to Europe! 🙃😈😁

How would gas up in the middle of the Atlantic? 🤔 😆
i think you should stay home and stop burning sht all the time!
turbineman40 · 80-89, M
A road trip with me driving. Want to see what's over that next hill?
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
I like both, but I prefer to fly to some far off destination.
HeavenBesideYou · 56-60, F
Road trip!

But I’ll fly if it makes more sense.
Ravens80 · 41-45, F
Driving when applicable!
Either is good. I love flying though.
Stereoguy · 56-60, M
Sign me up for a nice road trip! 😎😎😎
