Yeah it should adjust soon after you take it out of airplane mode. Mine takes about a minute to figure out where it is.

Yes they do because they have to reconnect to the local phone network. Plus all phones have gps which tells them where they are in the world.

Not all phones. But yeah most modern smartphones adjust automatically, especially if you’re connected to the internet

Usually yes so long as you are set to automatic. On an iPhone you can override that and choose any time zone.
