My Experience In France,Italy And Spain

I experienced the same thing in these 3 countries.They totally ignored me when I spoke in English. It was definitely not because they have a poor command of the English language.

I got fed up and started speaking in Malay as I'm a Malay Muslim lady from Singapore.The minute I started speaking in Malay,they started speaking to me in English!So in my heart,I was like,you can speak English after all!

What kind of attitude is that?!I get it that you're proud of your language and expect people to speak it.I think French,Italian and Spanish are beautiful languages but I don't speak them!

I mean few people here are bilingual let alone multilingual. It's not like Europe where every country speaks a different language so being bilingual or multilingual is common. @DarkHeaven

@Spoiledbrat I honestly think you’d be surprised, sweetheart. I speak three languages myself. There’s a lot of multilingual people here on this site.

I'm sure some people here do speak more than one language. I've met a few but most I've met over the course of my life only know English. @DarkHeaven

@Spoiledbrat I’m guessing as many as half the people on this site know at least one other language. Most, probably Spanish. I might be the only person here that speaks Icelandic, though. There’s not a lot of people in the entire world that speak it outside of the small island of Iceland.

I believe that a lot of people on this site are bilingual. I'm saying in America most people aren't bilingual because there hasn't been a need for it. I have nothing against Spanish. I just can't speak it. And I'm trying to say most Americans can't either.
