@turbineman40 Thank you. Still here but not much in the way of adventures to report. But once COVID is under control and borders are open so I can travel again I think I am going to be really busy!

@ninalanyon witch one are they ?

@Julien British English is a whole one, Norwegian is is a bit less than one, I'm fairly fluent but with poorer vocabulary than the natives and a terrible accent. 😉
I can read quite a lot of Danish but it's almost impossible to understand spoken Danish. I can understand quite a of Swedish but I have to answer in Norwegian and reading Swedish is not so easy because it has a lot more influence from other languages. I can read a little French but not enough to be useful and I can ask for directions to simple places such as railway stations, "Ou est le gare?" (I think), but stand no chance of understanding the reply! I can read a a little classical Latin and even less German.

So, all the non-English languages together add up to roughly one.

@ninalanyon Thieme id quite impressive, I speak French so Latin languages are fairly easy for me but Germanic is much harder ( struggling with Dutch at the moment )

@Julien Impressive? More like embarrassing. Fifty years ago I failed my French exams twice after six years of study. Luckily I didn't have to do a public exam in Latin as I had given it up two years earlier.

Good luck with the Dutch. Are you living in The Netherlands? When I moved to Norway one of the biggest problems I had learning Norwegian was that so many of them speak English so for a poor language student like me it was easier for both me and them to simply speak English.

@ninalanyon French is a very difficult language , it is basically«dirty» Latin spoken with a Germanic accent lol

I live in Rotterdam and every time I try to speak Dutch people answer me in perfect English so ...

@ninalanyon that is impressive to me to speak and understand that many languages.
I have missed your postings here on SW but glad to hear you are well and out and about. May I ask you the name of the other site you list on? You seem to like it a lot

@turbineman40 I think I must have given you the wrong impression. I only speak English and Norwegian, of the rest I can just read a few simple sentences.
