Hey I Got a Question?

You folks in Europe or maybe England. What are the squiggly lines suppose to mean on the roadway? We don't have them in the USA.

which squiggly lines in particular? We have loads of them! Zigzag lines by a zebra crossing and in front of schools etc mean you cant stop there or park there..
Sometimes the road is kind of hatched as again you aren't meant to be in that part unless you can't avoid it..

@Adaydreambeliever Yeah the zig-zag looking ones. I see them in dash cam videos all the time.

@GerOttman Ok so they mean keep clear.. particularly in places where you might have people crossing. such as in front of schools or zebra crossings... it's to give the pedestrians the best chance of seeing and being seen.
There might be a better, more comprehensive answer but that's it basically

@Adaydreambeliever OK makes sense, thanks!

@Adaydreambeliever not quite, but close. I too assume it's the zigzag near pedestrian crossings, they mean,
No parking
No stopping other than to let people cross and most importantly
Do not pass the stationary vehicle at the front even if the light is green or you can't see anyone crossing.

@deeply Alright, a little more detail there!

@deeply :P well I did say keep clear.. as in don't park there :P I am glad someone was able to give a more comprehensive answer - I predicted this :P

@Adaydreambeliever you got most of it, which is more than the school mums in this village would get, they think it means 4x4s only.
