Old route 66 is one, i10 is another, i80is another. I know it's an old post and if I looked at a map I'd come up with something more interesting

It might depend on the time of year. It can be super hot in the south in the summer. Also, do you want to see any National Parks and any particular cities of attractions ?

i suggest you pick out some places you want to see and go from there...4 weeks should be enough time to visit a lot of the places you want to see unless they're all over the place

No clue on the eastern half of the US, but from Denver west, I-70 can offer great views within the mountains to I-15 then south west to Los Angeles. Then go north along the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1). It's beautiful.

@booboo: It's tempting to stop at so many of those scenic areas you drive through. I could probably spend a month on a road trip through western US driving on I-40.

@cherokeepatti: yeah, I'd love to do that as well...I asked the wife to take a month off from work so we could do a road trip while we're still relatively young...she said "no"...oh well... I've always wanted just to jump in the truck and take off, but it's no fun doing that alone

@booboo: you're right. Knew someone who retired from the university and they bought a Winnebago and traveled the country for years.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
I would take the 15. Make up your own route to cross are country. Are you taking the drive slow. Or are you cannonballing it
bhatjc · 46-50, M
That is cool. Doing a road trip up the cali coast in a month
laotzu92 · 70-79, M
I actually did this exactly three years ago, from Boston to Bellingham, Washington where i now live.
Major stops were Chicago and Boulder, Colorado to visit family members. It was mostly I-90 and I-80.
Of course this was the northern tier of US.

Even though this is an innocuous question I can still envision it going south. So to speak.
