There is no "Once again.." about it.

It is not a constitutional right or duty for any UK Government, irrespective of Party, to bail out any commercial enterprise, although they sometimes do. Don't forget, it would be tax-payers' money involved: there is no such thing as "Government money".

However, the Government is working to help bring everyone home.

@Alice60 Oh yes, I agree with that point; but it still does not alter the fact that it's not automatic that the Government can or will bail out any company.

When it does, it's usually for national reasons that frankly are far more important to the country as a whole than spoilt holidays, however distressing those are to the victims, especially the employees.

Yes, it is unfortunate, but that's how it is I am afraid. The people to lean on are not politicians but the shareholders, who must have known things were going wrong but still gave the top Directors astronomical bonuses.

I feel sorry not only for the holidaymakers, but much more so for Thos. Cook's thousands of employees, suddenly out of work, as stranded abroad as the tourists, but pitching in unpaid to help everyone as best they can.

It's worrying for the hotels as well, because many are paid in arrears by the tour operators.

@ArishMell I don't agree with your Speech, British Citizens are British Citizens, who through no fault of their own are now stranded abroad in my view it is the same as non British illegal Migrants who willingly jump into a rowing boat to cross Oceans Sea's and the Channel, The royal Navy Sent out to Rescue them, That is British Tax Payers Money. End of this Conversation

@Alice60 Helping them is not the same as helping the company, which is how I read your original question.

The Government, via the Civil Aviation Authority, IS working very hard to bring all the stranded tourists home, by chartering planes, organising coaches, etc.
