Alice60 Oh yes, I agree with that point; but it still does not alter the fact that it's not automatic that the Government can or will bail out any company.
When it does, it's usually for national reasons that frankly are far more important to the country as a whole than spoilt holidays, however distressing those are to the victims, especially the employees.
Yes, it is unfortunate, but that's how it is I am afraid. The people to lean on are not politicians but the shareholders, who must have known things were going wrong but still gave the top Directors astronomical bonuses.
I feel sorry not only for the holidaymakers, but much more so for Thos. Cook's thousands of employees, suddenly out of work, as stranded abroad as the tourists, but pitching in unpaid to help everyone as best they can.
It's worrying for the hotels as well, because many are paid in arrears by the tour operators.
