Flew to Germany and back twice in C-130's. About 16 hrs. in a tin can full of rocks rolling down a hill. I live near Philly in the US but the flights were from a base on the coast of Virginia.

@SweetMae Yes, not quite first class... And yummy box lunches!

@GerOttman I have done that several times!

@SweetMae Where were you based? I flew from Langley, 316th TAW Avionics.

@GerOttman I flew from Karamursel, Tukey to Wiesbaden, Germany. They were medical flights. They rotated every 10 days.

@GerOttman @SweetMae My first flights were in an Air Force C-130 (out of Stewart AFB). After that, I flew on a commercial jet, and couldn’t believe how comfortable it was (getting of the C-130, I felt like I had been in a football game with the Chicago Bears).

@SweetMae We did 60 day NATO rotations to Rhein-Mein, I went twice.

@DragonFruit C-130's are rugged and durable, nowhere does it mention anything about being comfortable!!

Thank you both for your service. I know what a sacrifice that can be. @GerOttman @DragonFruit

@GerOttman Trying to sleep on a pile of flight and duffle bags is not conducive to sleeping well.
