When travelling to another country have you ever met a stranger who has a connection to you?

My brother in law in his 60's twice biked across America. The first time was from Los Angeles to New York. He, like me is from New Zealand.
He had leaned his bike against the wall of a supermarket just north of New York when he was approached by a man asking if he was from the UK. He said that he was from New Zealand.
The man said his brother biked through New Zealand and that when he stopped for break in the rain at a small settlement at the top of a mountain pass called Arthur's Pass where a woman approached and got chatting to him. She asked him if he would like to come to her place for some lunch. He accepted, met her daughter, fell in love with her and got married and settled on a farm on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand.
My brother in law looked at this man and asked if his surname was, "Zimmerman!a"
The man was dumbstruck and asked how he knew the name.
My brother in law, a beekeeper sold a man a hive and was told the same story by him as to how he came to live in New Zealand.
It was this man's brother.
It certainly is a small world.
