The childs world

He was a child who loved
In spite of all
Loved
Because he had nothing else
No one else
This was his life
All the life he had
And this person
This awful person was to be his life
Food
Shelter
Pain
Yes, pain
Awful pain
Integral to life, this pain
Integral to life, these feelings
These endless feelings
Until, finally, he could feel no more
Would feel no more
Anything......ever
He would survive
Because he had no way of not surviving
No way to simply die
This was the world
His world
God had somehow laid it down
For just a moment, so He thought,
And forgotten where He'd left it.

Kodi, thank you for sharing this poem. It is raw and painful and...I cannot find the words. It reveals how you have survived trauma that did not destroy you. The end of the poem is particularly touching. You brought hope from within you and you are an inspiration to others. I respect you. I admire you. And I love you, Kodi. PS. I don't know why you had to endure such trauma and I am sorry that you did. I would give anything to have had you live the life you wished for, the one you deserved. Yet here you are, Kodi, courageous and empathetic. I am proud of you.
