I Have a Scar

I have one scar of which I am particularly proud:

(a) A 2-3 inch scar down the bottom part of my thumb and across the bottom of my palm.

It was an injury from doing DIY; well actually I did it with a pair of scissors opening the flatpack, before I was anywhere near DIY really. It was a deep gash and there was quickly blood everywhere.

At the time it happened a friend was due to come and pick me in half an hour, as we were intending to go off out for a pizza. I phoned her and asked to pick me up NOW and told her that we will be heading for A&E, not Pizza Hut!!

I wrapped a white towel around my hand and sat in her car holding my arm up in the air. I will never forget her look of sheer panic when, half way to A&E, she looked across at my hand and saw that the white towel was now virtually red all over. I was not exactly happy seeing it myself!!

What frightens me now is how close I had been to slashing my wrist.

@Zeusdelight Needless to say, I am no longer allowed near any DIY!!

@JoBlak Your true potential has been lost to the World. Another 2020 catastrophe:)

@Zeusdelight Yes true!! 😆 Incompetent is not the word for it, when it comes to my ability to achieve anything that involves using hands to build something.

Unfortunately, as I am now prohibited from using sharp objects (scissors are limited to children's plastic toy scissors) so many have been deprived of the excitement of cascading bookshelves, waking up to flooded rooms and blown circuits. I invented the collapsable bed a long time ago. The world doesn't know how close a shave it had.

@JoBlak Mmm, you are so modest about your skills. Is there anything you excel at?
JoBlak · M
@Zeusdelight Well I have managed to remember my password for this site!!

@JoBlak Exceptional. I use a password manager:) Your memory must be immense:)

@Zeusdelight I am renowned for my memory; I can even remember sometimes where I put my coffee cup down ten minutes ago. I have even been known to remember what I went upstairs to get. I am actually getting even better in some areas. It is ages since I have been shopping and wandered off, forgotten I was with my wife and left her waiting somewhere for ages.

One thing in this mega memeory baffles. Why oh why, if somebody says "anything can happen in the next half hour" do I remember in minute detail the opening sequence to Stingray?
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@JoBlak You have lost me. Very humourous about 10 minutes ago, is that what you said:)

Lost me with STingray?
JoBlak · M
@Zeusdelight Oh I see. Stingray over here was a childrens programme from the 1960s. It is amazing how I can remember it in great detail from all that long ago, yet forget my wife's birthday!

@JoBlak Good to remember the important things:) Although a little dangerous:)
JoBlak · M
@Zeusdelight I said at least I remember that really matter to me; I cannot remember why I got the other black eye!
