Yes. And it’s not so new. I volunteered at a shelter for several years; there were showers, a dining hall and beds. Also a washer and dryer, and donated clean clothes.
There are a lot of homeless women, and one tip I once heard one give another, was "don’t shower if you’re going to be sleeping on the street”. The reason for that advice was pretty awful but a reality.

@bijouxbroussard Its aweful and is isnt nothing new. But here its got FAR worse. Truly. Opportunity for youngsters gone. It can only get worse. The inflation bubble is ready to burst.

At red lights. A few have been caught on news cams faking being homeless.

You got me to thinking - maybe the ones who look you in the eye, who man the same corner day in and day out, who always have a coffee with them and/or cigarettes are the fakes.

@rinkydinkydoink I’m not sure. I know there’s one who faithfully rides his bike with a big basket and his cans in my area every day. He’s the only one I can say with certainty is either poor or both poor and homeless. Him I’d help if I could. I think the place he parks his bike at gives him breakfast every day. I never see him, just his bike and everyone knows of him.

Was he threatening?
I was approached twice today in a local business area (grocery stores, gas stations, pet stores, etc) by sad-looking, desperate, poorly dressed (for the cold weather I mean) men who looked like they've been living this way for quite some time now.

All it takes is one bad day to join them on the sidewalk.

I don't vote. I don't know who the mayor of my hometown is.
I'm a Canadian, btw. Everyone knows who Trump is but only Americans can vote for him.

@rinkydinkydoink Well. I guess I have egg on my face. I've been arguing with a lot of those sort of people who stand by their decision to vote for that guy even as the economy here is tanking.

It gets tiring, right? I watch a lot of Fox News when something possibly criminal - or at least shady - hits the legit news stations just to see how long it takes them to get their explanations in order (this usually takes a few hours).

What's wrong with society? Look at your hoarding government

@ScreamingFox No, no! Pay no attention to the people behind the curtain! Keep fighting among yourselves!
