Worry Steps

1. You are caught in a worry cycle

2. Worry is all about trying to resolve uncertainty

3. So to resolve the uncertainty your brain switched to analysis mode

4. Sometimes it works but only in the short term.

5. It all comes down to avoidance

6. With worry and general anxiety, the thing you are avoiding is feeling uncertain and the way you are attempting to avoid it by analysing and seeking reassurance.

7. Worry questions can't be answered

Conclusion: You stop trying to answer th worry question

An old friend (RIP) once used a great example to me.

She said she could see I was veriy worried but acknowledged I could do nothing about it. she told me to call her at lunchtime the following day. Another sleepless night etc. When I called her she pointed out nothing had changed "So why are you worrying? You can't do anything". She then quoted the serenity prayer to me.
