I used to chronically worry about them growing up in a bad area with a lot of problematic people/situations and getting a subpar education. Thankfully, we’ve recently moved to a good area while they’re still young enough to enjoy it. It’s been a huge relief.
I used to worry a lot about them growing up without a good father-type figure, but my partner has been a wonderful stepparent, so that too is a relief.
I still feel guilty I couldn’t get us out of the ghetto sooner though. I worry about them not having friends nearby, but we’ve only been here a few months. Hopefully, that will work itself out after winter.
I mostly worry about their ADHD making their life harder as an adult. I’m trying to teach them life skills and ‘ADHD tools’ without coddling, but also making sure they don’t do anything that would close doors for them later in life in ways they don’t understand yet.
