I think it depends on the household income, and the cost of living where you live. Also, are you willing to forgo a nicer car, boat, expensive vacations in order to make it work? If you can financially do it, more power to you. I think for the majority of Americans now, however it’s not a sustainable option. That said, it also depends what kind of job the other parent has. Childcare can be really expensive, and it might not be financially worth it to have both parents working. A lot of us had stay at home moms growing up, but that was a different time, and it’s not as feasible as it once was.
