Texas is allowing total strangers standing to file suit against an abortion provider…
Senate Bill 8, which allows anyone to sue anyone who performs or aids in an abortion, marks an unprecedented change to who has standing to bring a lawsuit. The tactic is also an emerging trend in Republican-dominated states that may compromise constitutional rights, some legal experts said.
If a stranger’s suit prevents a woman from exercising her choice, she should then be able to sue that person for prenatal costs and child support.

Or as Pop says, "if a stranger wants to put in his (or her) two cents, let them kick in a few hundred more to help take care of the child they’re insisting be born."

@bijouxbroussard Yes, you're right. My apologies. Only about 50% of the US.

@deadgerbil Republican "family values."

@deadgerbil so two faced! Great example

Ah, the Republicans. Defenders of something ... they just don't really know what.

@ninjavu Mega church supremacy and whatever campaign contributors crave.

I am so tired of one-third of the US population holding the rest of us hostage. The current system of government is truly broken. Gerrymandering, the electoral college, voting restrictions, unlimited money, and our politicians selfish self-interests in staying in power rather than working to tackle the issues in front of us threaten our democracy and future.
@Fauxmyope Yes ! 😞

Is it too late just to give Texas back to Mexico?
@NorthernBear Lol ! The way it is, would Mexico want it back ? 😅

Your pop is so right!😏I can't even believe this is happening. If a woman don't want a baby for what ever reason, she'll find a way to get an abortion. Hopefully she doesn't have to die doing it!😢
Forgive my language, but this is fucked. I don't understand the purpose (I know politically) and I think a few Republicans were waiting for a crisis to orchestrate this nonsense. They want backstreet abortions again?
@thewindupbirdchronicles Based upon this and similar legislation, one would think so. That will be the result. Abortions will not stop—only the ones where women and girls survive.
@bijouxbroussard Yes, and that's very sad, tragic and resoundingly I find it immoral. We have more children in this world that are unwanted than the world can handle, so even on this level, societal, to me, it is wrong. My father made something of his life, in my finding, but I know it came with struggle and he was raised as a foster kid for many years. I don't understand the logic, I really don't, they can't even see the children feel unwanted?

Edited: cause I really wanted to point out it also has lasting impact on children

they'll cite personal responsibility to justify not making that possible and a few hundred is practically meaningless but the sentiment is well-placed
@tindrummer Personal responsibility, when they’re actively interfering ?

@bijouxbroussard hypocrisy w/o limits

These people are bringing the US back in time where the freedom of people is curtailed, much like in China, Russia and North Korea

Good Ol' Texas.
I bought a book by David Barton this week, he's also from Texas.
Can't wait to put It in my collection of snake oil.

I predict Abbot’s regime will attack our allies, Mexico. When this happens our military can open fire on Abbot’s regime.

Pop is absolutely right.
