I don't think there is a single person in or connected to Indian Country who doesn't know someone who has been a victim of the MMIW crisis. It affects us all deeply as mothers, sisters, cousins....because it is clear that the authorities not only fail to take it seriously but, in the worst cases, actively obstruct justice.
I know there is a bill in the Arizona State House to implement an AMBER Alert system for missing Indigenous people, and I hope the nationwide coverage of this case will help push it through. No matter where you are, it is worth writing to your representatives about.
