Internet has brought a lot of great things to each of us and many will say it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Others may not see it quite the same.
Lately, I've noticed that internet and a lot of what I see and learn is leaving me disillusioned, disappointed, sad, etc... it's like too much... an overload of all kinds of things I never really needed to see or know.
Have you ever felt this way?

I understand what you are saying. There are some who post things I know about - but I don't want them floating in my consciousness, so I block. I'm better off and nobody gets hurt.
It is there, has always been there, it is just more easily observed.
I guess what I am trying to say is just because you weren't aware of it, didn't mean it didn't exist. It can be a disturbing awakening but I'm not entirely sure it is a bad thing to be aware of what really goes on. I grew up in what I thought was a peaceful little Midwest town. It wasn't until I began working in that and similar towns that I discovered what went on that I was oblivious to.
Let me add that just because you are aware of all the "junk"....doesn't mean that the good is not still there, it is....

@bowman81 I'm tired. I think it's worse on internet. Just saw a post asking if people own sex toys. I don't need to see or know. There is just way too much information that I never wanted to know. Maybe it's not internet so much as sites like these where just about anything goes. I've never been the type that fits in well with a lot of things that (in my opinion) are personal and not the business of total strangers. Ignorance isn't really such a bad thing when it means your heart is happy and it's not life threatening/changing things you don't know or see. I'm glad my children grew up with a bit of innocence that many seem to have never really had. I think we go back to what we allow.

@SW-User [c=004A59]I'm with you on the TMI. I feel very out of place sometimes. I need to take my own advice and block without mercy.[/c]

[c=004A59]It depends on what we're talking about. Social networking sites I can take or leave for the most part. The internet is still a good place for research for those of us who do not have fully equipped town libraries.[/c]

To elaborate personally, it's entertaining and addictive, as well I was perfectly fine without it. It's few conviences were as easily taken cared of by speaking directly to a human over the telephone.

I think we forget that people don’t owe us anything here. We take people at their word and want to believe our interactions are genuine however after a few hundred deceitful interactions we are always suspect of peoples motives and word.
