According to Dr. Freud, dreams are wish fulfillments. The idea is that when wishes can't or won't be fulfilled in our waking lives, they are carried out in dreams. The wishes are masked by a censor, however, so you won't be morally upset when you wake up.
Nobody can tell you what that dream might possible mean. You will have to find out yourself.

@helenS Isn't Freud questioned by now? Err, I should edit this by saying his ideas were guided by a certain morality that is quite different than now.

@SW-User Yes. His main motivation was to point out that "free will" is an illusion. Today, neuroscience is much more fashionable; the denial of free will by neuroscientists sounds much more convincing to contemporary ears.

@helenS Ugh. I hated the work of Freud, William James, Luke Watson, James Lange. The original DMS had folks like me (gay) listed as having a mental illness. Luckily, I had intelligent parents who supported me and my boyfriends.

@helenS Sounds like a current societal argument somewhere. No reference to the argument to mask up, or to not. I was hitting upon different elements though, what determines a moral action and can they be known without previous influence? I doubt Frued was a criticial thinker entirely, but one at a time society needed, thus critical.

@Grateful4you Some even claim that homosexuality is a curable "disease", which, of course, means that violence against gay people is not only justified, but necessary.

SW-User
@helenS It doesn't say that actually, but it does say they don't understand human sexuality in any way.

@SW-User In my opinion Dr. Freud constructed a modern myth, which appeared to be reasonable at the time.

@SW-User Any attempt to "cure" homosexuality is violent.

SW-User
@helenS Considering the violence towards homosexuality, yes. I meant differently, but point taken. My gay nephew would likely hold a different perspective than me.

@helenS I do admire the newer, "Positive Psychology" based on happiness. It includes easy exercises to improve mental stasis.

@helenS Any time, don’t mention it 👍.
