I fixed a vacuum cleaner for a friend and it got me thinking..perhaps I could have my own little handyman side business.

I'm retired and need something to do and I'm pretty good at fixing things. I'm not going to do heavy duty jobs because I don't think I physically can. The last time I did something heavy duty was resodding the lawn back in 2013 and that was a lot then and I was younger.

Just an idea I'm kicking around.

Excellent. It would be better to save things that have worked well than risk buying new ones. We had one business here in my city that did that and it closed up around the early 90’s. No other such business has gone in. We also had a man we called the Bicycle Man that worked on bikes, he didn’t charge much but he would work on them quickly while we waited, and he worked from his home. Bought a good used bike from him back in the 90’s

Great idea. Handymen make good $$$.
Appliance repair would actually be a lucrative side business.

Often considered it myself; it would be peaceful tinkering away on a toaster or a vacuum in the back shop.
