You Don’t Have to Stuff Your Feelings

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

All our lives, many of us are taught to hide what we truly feel. I was. Even at home, even around the people who are supposed to love us the most, we are told—sometimes silently—that our emotions are too much, that we must be “acceptable,” “strong,” or “okay,” even when we’re not.

When this happens, something heavy builds inside. Anger. Sadness. Confusion. Pain. And over time, we begin to believe that our feelings themselves are wrong.

I want you to hear this clearly today: your feelings are not wrong. Your emotions are not a burden to God. And you do not have to stuff them to be faithful, acceptable, or loved.

Faith does not ask you to put on a mask. Faith does not demand constant performance. Faith welcomes honesty—the real, raw, sometimes messy honesty of your heart.

When we pretend we’re okay, we are living in a lie. But when we speak our truth—even quietly, even just to God—we are healing. We are reconnecting to the life He gave us, the voice He gave us, and the freedom He wants for us.

If you have ever felt like you had to silence yourself, know this: you were never meant to live that way. The truth is, God already sees your pain, your grief, your anger, your joy, and your fear—and He holds it all tenderly. He doesn’t require you to perform for His love.

Today, give yourself permission to be real. Start with one honest statement, even if it’s just whispered in prayer:
“God, this is what I feel. Thank You for seeing me. Thank You for holding me.”

And as you grow in honesty, remember: you are no longer the child who had to hide. You are free to speak. You are free to grieve. You are free to be seen.

Let this be your prayer:
“Lord, help me to honor my feelings, to express them, and to trust You with all that I am. Teach me that authenticity is strength, and that being real with You is the beginning of true healing.”

You do not have to pretend. You do not have to perform. And you are never, ever alone.

"I am with you always, even unto the end of the world" is a promise from Jesus, found in Matthew 28:20. Jesus assures his followers of his continuous presence and support. He is with you 24/7. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
