Like, don't offer up anything you're not comfortable with. Don't do or say things that aren't sustainable. Don't agree to anything that's in the distant future... Just be you and nothing more

It'll always be worth the risk, if you stay true to you. The worst possible case scenario is your heart will get stung, maybe even a good bit, but you'll learn something about yourself that you'd have never learned otherwise. I say go for it, with caution

I hope it's a good linger. Not being over his ex is definitely going to affect your relationship with him. Is there a possibility that they will reconnect? If so, can you truly be okay with that? That's one of those things that you can't commit to being okay with him taking the time to figure this out if it's actually killing you inside
