Saturdays thoughts

Lots to think about tonight. I am thinking about how much has changed, to the point that where I grew up now looks almost unrecognizable.

I used to be able to look up at night and see a whole sky full of stars. Now, with the light pollution from the city, I have to drive pretty far just to get a good view. The old movie theaters have been replaced. No one younger than me has ever seen a Blockbuster. We can’t even ride bikes without somehow getting a ticket for something.

I have dreams of building a home, and I am certain that wherever I put that home, it is going to be somewhere quieter. It used to be quiet here, but this place has grown. In a strange way, it feels like it has grown and changed right alongside me.

There are still a few spots I could show you that I remember from my childhood, but not so many anymore. When I was a kid, I was so sure this was something I would absolutely never care about, no matter how many adults told me that one day I would.

It vexes me to admit they were right.

But I suppose some lessons are only taught with age.
