Assessments and celebrations
There be 2 approaches in the current age to be of my chosen essential texts
1) Those which creatively paint world pictures where vibrancy rings true
2) Those who merely remind of the past, wherein treasure be
The purist literature is furthest separated from the current, but also the closest, with what is readily available, the treasures of the ancient past.
The chosen selection I've made so far has been mostly of the 1st above, the 2nd in literature would be a waste of time imo, there'd be videos covering the same terrain and much quicker.
Summarians are the pinnacle of the project of philosophy imo, Shestov is on the side of faith, Cioran on the unbelieving side.
Both of those guys imo gave compelling attention to key figures in the history of philosophy, those would be the figures a normal person would say to go to for the real deal.
For me however time is made use of the equation of what choices are made.
As for Taoism, Buddhism and Hinduism, for me what is best is the fairly abundant selection of audiobooks, what I'd need to do is choose just one of them, and listen to it all, use the author's name for YouTube searches and so on, to make growth in knowingness an ongoingness.
And yet, what is chosen so far, is a blendingness of things one uses to awaken out of something too stuffy, which speaks of and to those who've experienced certain kinds of faith oriented atmosphere's and the joy of reading those kinds of things, which give you wings to fly out of those kinds of thoughts prisons, but then when plopped down in a new landing, one then moves on and discovers other things, Paul Schrader in a extra on the Taxi Driver DVD release says the same kind of thing, it being based on inspired by Dostoevsky's Underground man, Travis Bickle, so then one goes to the source and see the trajectory of that great author's work.
I listened to all of Brothers Karamazov and it was one of the strongest experiences ever in audiobooks for me, terrifically moving with Alyosha and those kids, which spoke about the power to go on from tragedy.
