What are your thoughts on a new partner monitoring who you talk to

I feel like the younger generation has this idea that talking about an ex or remaining friends and still talking to the ex is a big no, no. But really, some ex's remain friends and that's ok. I don't think a brand new person in your life should tell you who you can and can't talk to.

What if it's the father of your child and you live in different states and have known each other for 32 years. And you had already been friends all those years and have absolutely no intentions of getting together. No feelings other than being buddies. I mean there are different scenarios like that out there that are acceptable

Agree. I’m on good terms with all my ex’s (except one) and they are definitely a net positive in my life and have not inhibited new relationships.

I still talk to my ex boyfriend today, but only as a good friend. I think some exes can genuinely remain friends after a relationship ends.

I think if either of you feel that is necessary, you both have made a mistake. Trust and respect is the foundation of any successful long term relationship. If you dont have that, then you have a friend with benefits.
