How I see the value in dark stuff
Whether it's something disturbing, pessimistic, nihilistic and so on, I take it not so much at face value, rather it is allowing yourself to think of the Problem, Kierkegaard termed it The Problemata.
The thing that you are usually running away from mentally.
Listening to music, watching rom coms, reading a page turner, we are in a way escaping from that Problem.
Looking into the dark side isn't being inside it, it is evaluating it, putting it under the microscope, and seeing connections with what is going on, it is being more aware.
That is what my Learning Time stuff is about, now it's got a bunch of nasty stuff for starters, but a new addition there is this, when a notable addition is added, I shall make a new post with it in it, to garner more attention, no one is checking back on my ongoing posts.
The channel Einzelgänger is a great channel that delves into Taoism, Buddhism, and all other sorts of things, here he gives a little time to my #1 thinker, who is a person who's shown me that facing the Problem isn't gonna hurt you, there can be a sort of calm, ataraxia, equanimity in not just hearing a bunch of rose colored glasses kind of sentiments which have no bearing on what is the matter.
Now the Pessimism and Nihilism, Cynicism, for me isn't the ultimate expression I wish I had myself, it's commonly seen for those approaching Cioran and these kinds of thinking that it's just a downer, that no one needs to know that, like someone saying why watch horror movies when life is horrific enough.
No, the world is horrific yes, but to understand it, or even come close to understanding it, I feel you need to approach the general topic from a different angle, instead of political pundits, try out someone who lyrically explains it all, putting it into perspective. Then with that covered, we can perhaps be more privy to solutions, seeing differently imo shouldn't be a dead end, that is where I disagree with Cioran, the purposelessness as the end result of a thought isn't the thing for me, it discards the wondrous sensations I get from something like ELO's Mr. Blue Sky.
For me, everything needs to fit together, my #1 thinker only stands for me for the facing what is normally run away from. He loosens the pickle jar, so that we can open up the jar and taste those yummy pickles, which is represented with something like Bjork, or Bonzo Dog Doo Dahh Band

For each one individually his point makes more sense, but I would like how I see things as not confined just to me, but factoring in the human species continuing after I die, a vision exceeding the scope of what I am which is obviously small potatos, you don't need much schooling to know that.

Seeing life itself as a catastrophe is a bit dramatic, which I see as a sometimes necessary overstatement to prove a point, like screaming to get attention.
Humanity is not going in the right direction, so I can accept Zapffe's Last messiah message delivered only once, but we're not there yet, but extremely close, what my positive vision would be is this:
Collectively humanity rejects how "progress" is done, we reject the all importance of profit, we insist of treating others as valuable, and increase in humane-ness, doesn't seem possible, so that is why I see Zapffe's input as food for thought, I don't write him off, there's much in there that can help us think of things in new ways to perhaps come up with our own solutions which may for us each, work even better than Buddhism, Taoism, and Stoicism.
