the disappearing thought
in the wind...
the ghost of yesterday
without a trace
a phantom memory of thoughts
a mist
the glaring daylight of dawn
and the sun blazing off the street
into you eyes as you drive east
to the lady who eats gumdrops
on the counter of the kitchen
in the candy dish
pushing her walker
back to her recliner
countless times a day
her tiny dog beside her
a devoted companion
she removes her teeth
and pick at it in her lap
while her daughter protests in horror
but she doesn't care
neither does the other onlooker
in amusement
