Do we really change, or do we just get better at hiding who we are?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot. People say time changes you, but I feel like the core of who I am is still the same. I’ve just learned which parts to show to whom. Do you think people genuinely change over time, or do we just adapt to different situations? Curious to hear your perspectives.

The older I get, the less I care about shielding others from what they're old enough to suck it up and deal with. I'm doing the same in terms of everyone else and their life choices, so I feel they can and should return the favor.

I'm not bothering anyone therefore they can mind their business and keep their opinions to themselves or someone who isn't me.🤷🏾‍♀
@DancingStarGoddess that makes sense. i think the tricky part is figuring out where that line is though. like i don't wanna manage everyone's feelings but i also don't wanna become someone who just doesn't care at all. i guess it's more about knowing when it's actually your problem versus when you're just used to making it yours.
@Daquered Absolutely! there's a fine line between "just doing my thing" and not being a dick who is just shoving what you do in everyone's face bc you can.
