Once you start it's advisable to keep going
Something I agree with in the Bible is the sentiment of Solomon, that increasing knowledge means also increasing one's sense of misery.
However to then be anti-knowledge so as to procure a felicitous mindset would in my opinion be even worse, unless you'd really be a wretch with the knowledge equals misery dynamic.
I think when we encounter this misery we are given a necessary task to fulfill, life on earth as a problematic, and it's like asking so what are you gonna do about it, huh?
It's a prod to make us come up with some answers, it strengthens the mind.
To seek refuge in magic names and repeating religious phrases without heartfelt meaning is what I see the answer some have, which is no answer just a reaction.
It's not right or wrong so much as what can one manage, and what one can do according to their own understanding of things.
And here is my thought about understanding, we may be understanding some things, but never all of the things, for that we are obligated if we really want to, to travel further down the road of knowledge and find things out, like an explorer, there will be pleasant surprises along the way, and the more so if one isn't crushed by the sense of misery which should when one is well under way be just a fact of life.
In the midst of huge problems, much of our personal problems should melt away, or be handled more easily, for with the huge problems being faced, in the optics of comparison, those become petty and of no consequence in the face of the big things.
