How true do you think it is that if you think something you do it?

I am mindful of the words of the Christ:
Jesus says, "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:28).

It suggest that thinking about doing something is the same as doing it, in essence. Thinking of having sex with a woman who is not your wife, or of killing somebody who has annoyed you to the degree that triggers you, is the same as murdering them!

It suggests we must marshal our emotions to a greater degree than any of us do, that an action begins in our thoughts or in our hearts before ever we do it! Indeed, lots of us think it but don’t do it but in God’s view we have a guilt!

Prayer that we have transgressed the essence of the Ten Commandments really suggests that come the End of Time and the Judgment before the Saviour is going to be very difficult for the vast majority of people and our not praying for forgiveness when our thoughts have escaped us leaves us in a jeopardy none of us fully appreciate! It is intense!

What are your thoughts? I would add if you are a nonbeliever or scathing of the Gospel I really hope you don’t respond to this. Abusers will be blocked!

Nope. I dont think its true at all.

I think there's a lot of unappreciated kudoz for the art and strength of "self restraint".

Psychologically theres a lot to be said for dealing with the emotions that come with thoroughly thinking unethical things.... experiencing the emotions and feelings that surface - and learning to let them go.

If one just 'greyrocks' ones inner feelings and thoughts, they hibernate and fester until one day.... that dam breaks.

On a religious note: even God did unthinkable things before he realsied not to do them ever again.

Goodness is a learning curve.
If you dont allow yourself to learn....you never will🤷‍♀
