Intermission thoughts (2)
I am in a little way rushing my list of 50, because I'm eager to have the matter settled, to have it all definitivized. This is all for 2 earth years, but it might be expanded to three, thus making me need to live longer, maybe somehow make it to my 70's??
After my Cioran post I checked for any new books from him ,and nope, but another thinker i've never tried out caught my eye
René Girard
and I thought my refund came through this morning as I was able to get another cheap Oxford book, but no way Jose, I just have to wait to start collecting his work which employs the term mimetic.
For each post with a picture of the author I kind of meditate on it, and then have a reading session for them, it's wonderful!!
And I must confess, Ancient Greece and Rome is looking less important to me now. I do need to go through Plato and Aristotle, and the Roman Stoics, and the WKC Guthrie stuff and other Presocaratics, oh dear, it saddens me you know? Last session with Guthrie it was incredibly dry, in the section on Pythagoras, it seems like whichever Presocratic is under discussion he's always saying what Heraclitus said, like did he go bad mouthing his peers or what??!!
I dunno if I'll get to 12/50 before I get sleep, we'll see how it goes, I must continually have mini-sessions with everything I post, because a post of them cements their work into my full time job of reading. I love it so much I pay to do it, I've been paying for YEARS, and NOW is the time where it starts to pay off, it's so exciting and liberating to come back to texts and be reassured that the magic is still there, it's like I haven't lost my mind, my mind that saw a wealth of value in them long time ago, still sees it!!
I'll shut up now, but one more thing, i'm sorry i'm not replying much to other people's posts, it's so damn selfish of me, but I feel some guilt about it, I do like to say nice things to people, and supply whatever good I can to others. But heck, what good was I at that anyways? Just some mildly affirmative nice guy with some lame quirks. 🤐
